An Important Part Of Any Public Health Program Is A...

MISSION STATEMENT An important part of any public health program is a mission statement. A mission statement describes the focus of the program and the philosophy behind it. We believe that diabetes is a serious but preventable problem. The mission of our program is to decrease the instance of diabetes in twenty to fifty year olds in the Hispanic Community of Tulare County by increasing the consumption of healthy fruits and vegetables, improving access to diabetic testing and increasing knowledge and awareness of the disease. In order to achieve this mission, we have established the following goals to define the general intent of the program. PROGRAM GOALS Program goals are general statements that provide an overall direction and outline for the program. Although goals are usually not measurable and have no specific deadline, they are still important components of a health promotion program. One of our main goals of this program is to reduce the instance of diabetes in the Hispanic population of person’s ages twenty to fifty five living in Tulare County. This goal is interdependent with our second goal to increase the consumption of health fruits and vegetables for the Hispanic population of Tulare County. Another goal of our group is to increase diabetes awareness in the Hispanic population of Tulare County.
